It's self-reverential; it shovels on the sentiment; even the spontaneity seems calculated; but it's also gloriously, wonderfully garish (think of all those great SF book covers brought to life), charming and very funny; quite touching in places; has well-orchestrated and often rather huge action scenes. And, for me, it wasn't Baby Groot or even Rocket that steals the film, but the hilarious Drax. Highly recommended with anybody with a love of SF and a sense of downright fun.
