This is the first I've heard of it, aldiboronti. We had quite a discussion of it in the Practical Hussade thread in the JACK VANCE
DISCUSSION forum some time ago. The visuals in the video look an awful lot like those produced by Rutger (TheRooff), our Dutch production guy who was pursuing
a Hussade game. I'm surprised he hasn't posted a notice here.

Indeed, this is Rutger's work. The practicalities of a real-life hussade are daunting, to say the least, but in video game format, this should lead to a
very enjoyable game.

Someone must have paid the ransom, I suppose (you dirty old man...)

What the video shows us is just a mockup. A static rendering of a few game situations. This is nowhere near an actual game for the Wii or Nintendo DS. I would
be very surprised if this game will ever exist on a Wii or DS or any computer system.

As a video game programmer, given the art, I could code it up in about a week. Unfortunately, there is no way to distribute freeware or shareware on any
Nintendo (or Sony) system, and even if the game was created, you must get approval from Nintendo (or Sony) to market a game, and they are very strict. Rather
unfortunate. A PC game; no problem. However, I don't think anyone really wants to play the virtual game; denuded shierls are common on the internet and in
video games.

I am suddenly struck by the word "denude". The "de-" part normally means "to take away" as in deforestation, decommission, etc.
In that case, denude should mean to "take away nudeness" or to clothe. Shouldn't the term be something like "ennude" (to make nude, as
in ennoble, enable)? It's all so confusing.

If I were to watch a real-life hussade game, or a televised spectacle with humans performing this sport, I'd rather see a gender switch. Mostly the games
would be wet men running about if one realized Vance's vision, right? That sounds like an extremely boring prospect to be watching.
Athletic girls pushing each other into tanks and then running around not as dry as they started out would on the other hand be something to behold. Since I've always thought sheirling to be a silly, passive function I have an idea for improvement in this department as well. The he-sheirl could perform the double-duty of both sheirl and team captain, and be shouting instructions from his pedestal. There is more dramatic potential if the person who negotiates about ransom payment is the person risking defrocking. Also, let's face it, the male anatomy is better suited for the placement of a hussade ring; think cod-piece. There would in fact be no need for an actual ring. |

David raises an interesting point. If the word followed its normal meaning we would have savage, determined, Hussade players swinging on trapezes, bashing aside their opponents, and forcibly clothing the innocent naked girls in the latest popular fashions, possibly with matching shoes and handbags, makeup and hairstyles included. *Shudder* The current meaning is definitely more civilized.

Hi Mike, A bit late for a reply. I know. My question: 1. Can you make a (demo)game witch we can put on the side www.hussade-games.com A demo game would be extremely useful to get money for the "practical hussade project". Maybe
I can get David Mullich ( The Prisoner) davidm@blacksheepinteractive.com The Rooff.nl
