Just yesterday read The Wife of Martin Guerre, by Janet Lewis. It was an original 1941 copy, from the local library stacks. My wife told me it was good, and had I heard of it? I had heard of the story, but had not actually heard the story itself. I remember that the French movie came out 30 or so years ago, but I never saw it.

It is a very short novel, very well written, and I read it in one evening. An interesting tale, indeed. It evokes the time and place quite well.
