$1350(!), but it was signed in the bookseller's presence.

Aah! That is from Handee Books! The notorious Handee Books. I once wrote to them, and civilly asked if they could lower their fixed International shipping fee of $25, for a single paperback I wished to order. Actual cost was then about $12 for a paperback. They wrote back to me and offered to ship it Express Mail for $35. After that I visited their website, because I was curious what kind of people they were, and if it possibly was reflected in their webdesign. Reading their customer policy page, it said, "We do our best to meet customers's needs, but occasionally we receive some rotten eggs. If you can't be nice and behave, please leave." That is some way of handling a first introduction! I believe that they since have removed that offensive text. It couldn't possibly have been good for business.
