"Nature vs nurture" is heating up, except among bio-psychologists...

I remember sitting in a bar in Upstate, New York in the late 70s and overhearing a guy saying, "Elmer looks unhappy sitting there by himself.  Do you think that I should go over and talk to him?"  His friend replied, "Elmer is a mean drunk.  His daddy was a mean drunk, and his uncle is a mean drunk.  I'd leave him alone."   I had a flash that it's quite likely that response to alcohol is largely genetic, as are a bunch of other behavioral traits- I just wish that some geneticist would get a bunch of hard-core "Conservatives" and another bunch of soft-core "Liberals" and look for genetic differences- it could be a difference in just one gene-

BTW, that's one of my favorite favorite Vance stories- I dunno why some people don't like it....

IF there were any Justice, Jack Vance would have won the Nobel Prize in Literature!
