Yes, the Vance Integral edition is very ugly. If anyone wants to get rid of their set, I would humbly be willing to let you haul it over onto me. I can store, and take care of it to future reference. For a small fee.


Seriously, I have only seen the VIE in pictures, and even though it looks a bit amateurish with odd layout cover design, it still clearly is a work of love and much effort. That's what's most important. It has a nice brown and yellow tone. The leather spines are beautiful. The artwork is personable and charming (especially the decorations). It is rich.
It is like comparing the crude force and energy of primitive Art, with the polished, but insipid, designs of commercial profesional publishing.
