In a sense, this (non-)event reminds me of some sf stories, where the main character, an indispensable member of society (a writer, mostly) is abducted by aliens a couple of minutes before or after he dies, cured and/or reanimated, and then reintroduced to society at a crucial moment in its history (if I remember well, the second volume of the Hyperion Cantos used this plot as well, with John Keats reactivated as a cybrid). Maybe Forrest J. Ackerman was reintroduced just in time to cast his vote in the presidential ballot. If so, Ackerman has now joined the ranks of the sf protagonists in the books he so greatly admires.
